Your Favorite Pokémon Games Are Coming Back To The 3DS
Ever since the late 90s, Pokémon has been an unstoppable force that we've all fallen into at some point. Whether it was the Game Boy games, the cartoon, the toys, the cards, or just about any of the other thousands of bits of merchandise, it was pretty much impossible to escape.
With Pokémon's 20th anniversary beginning last year in Japan, Nintendo's had us caught up in Pokémania all over again. Not only were the newest entries, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon released on the Nintendo 3DS, but we also saw a re-release of the games that started it all: Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition.
Best of all, these downloadable versions had wireless capabilities added. You could trade and battle with your friends without needing that stupid Link Cable that only worked for those games!
Of course, everyone who grew up with Pokémon immediately had one question: "when are we getting Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver as downloads?"
These two games, despite being over 15 years old, are considered by many longtime fans to be the best in the series. With not only a new world and new Pokémon to discover, but also the entirety of Red and Blue included as well, Gold and Silver give you almost too much game to handle! Add in new features like breeding Pokemon and hatching baby Pokemon from eggs, it's easy to see why people love it so much.
Well, it looks like Nintendo was listening to these requests.
During a special Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct today, the company has announced that Gold and Silver will be hitting the 3DS eShop on September 17th! They will have the same wireless features as Red, Blue and Yellow, and now people won't have to worry about keeping the save batteries in their old cartridges alive!
Now we can relive all the hard decisions we had to make in this game as kids. Decisions like;
Which starter do you pick: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile?
Which version has the best exclusive Pokémon?
Which is the best Legendary: Ho-oh or Lugia?
Which game is your choice?
