He Was Everybody's Favorite '90s Bad Boy, But What Has Skeet Ulrich Been Up To Since?
If you were a budding teenager during the 90s, there's a pretty good chance that a bunch of times you went to check out the latest teen comedy or drama at the movie theater, you found yourself face to face with the man with the unlikeliest of names, Skeet Ulrich.
Born Bryan Ray Trout in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1970, he eventually developed his acting name from a combination of his little-league nickname "Skeeter" (from his small stature), as well as his first stepfather's last name, Ulrich. Ulrich the elder was actually a NASCAR driver and owner, but Skeet definitely had his sights firmly set on acting.
Despite initially starting out as a student of Marine Biology (seriously, can you imagine him studying whales?), Ulrich soon switched to acting, which he studied at New York University, even catching the eye of playwright David Mamet. From there, he started getting bit roles in movies like Weekend At Bernie's and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it was in the 90s that he truly began to come into his own.
After being cast as Winona Rider's awful boyfriend in 1996's Boys, producers seemed to zero in on the fact that Ulrich was very, very good at playing assholes. So much so, in fact, that he got cast as two massively memorable assholes within the same year: Chris Hooker in The Craft, and Billy Loomis in Scream.
Afterwards though, Ulrich seemed to largely disappear after a few small roles throughout the 90s. So, we've all been asking ourselves: what happened to the guy?
Though he's nowhere near as present in modern-day Hollywood, Ulrich hasn't stopped acting! He's actually had regular roles on some short-lived shows, such as Miracles, Jericho, and Law and Order: LA.
However, his fans nowadays probably know him best from some of his weirder show choices. He was a regular voice actor on the hit Adult Swim show Robot Chicken, and most recently, he plays the father of Jughead Jones, FP Jones, on the hit CW revival of Archie Comics, Riverdale.
As for his personal life, Ulrich seems to have some perpetually bad luck when it comes to love. He married English actress Georgina Cales in 1997, but the two divorced in 2005, citing irreconcilable differences. He has since had another marriage and an engagement fall through. Looks like life's not always easy for the ol' Skeeter.
