The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Were Once On Oprah And It's The Best/Worst Thing You'll Ever See

If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, it's guaranteed that you remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They were absolutely everywhere you looked: TV, movies, toys, snacks, books, comics, videogames. Childhood thy name was TMNT.

You also definitely remember Oprah Winfrey, the queen of talk show television and the woman all our moms were obsessed with before Ellen came along.

But did you know that there was a time when these two pop culture powerhouses collided? And did you know that it was possibly the most awkward 40 minutes of television that has ever existed? Buckle up, because this is something else.

All the way back in 1990 (let's not think about how long ago that was), Oprah devoted an entire episode to our beloved Ninja Turtles to help promote their Coming Out of Their Shells album and tour. Oprah's special had everything we know and love about TMNT: Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo were there, along with April of course.

And how could we forget the live music?

And the discussions about interspecies relationships! Wait, what.

And it all goes downhill from there.

Honestly, the whole episode is bonkers from start to finish. It's like it was made by someone who had never actually seen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but had only had it described to them by someone who also had never seen it. I think this kid's face pretty much sum it up.
