The 'Matilda Challenge' Is Purest Thing On The Internet You Didn't Know You Needed

TriStar Pictures

I don't know about you, but every time I see these so-called "challenges" that teens are doing I get completely thrown off.

Why are kids eating laundry detergent? Why are they jumping out of moving vehicles? I'm sure the older generation thought the same about the weird things we did, but at least we didn't have the internet so it wasn't like it spread all that far.

But now there is finally one that we can all get behind. Not only is it impressive, but brings back a classic moment from one of the best movies ever.

Introducing the "Matilda Challenge"

Matilda
TriStar Pictures

Matilda was a book written by Roald Dahl and turned into an epic movie starring Mara Wilson, Danny Devito, and Rhea Pearlman.

The magical six-year-old is not only super smart, but she can move things with her mind. That's right, she figures out that she can move things using telekinetic energy and after she starts by making the perfect bowl of Cheerios, she starts dancing around the house in a scene that made every kid jealous.

Do you know how long I stared at the Cheerios in my bowl? Too long. Never once did they move.

At least it seems like I am not the only one, because a bunch of other people have created videos of themselves doing what is called the "Matilda Challenge" where they use their own "telekinetic powers" to make a bunch of stuff happen in their house.

Sure, it's all a trick of clever editing and a lot of (often visible) helping hands, but who cares. It makes us feel like we are watching the movie all over again and if you really try to suspend your disbelief for even a second you can pretend like there are a bunch of grown up Matilda-powered people out there.

You better watch out Trunchbull!

People have their friends make things around the room move while they dance around to the same iconic song that Matilda dances to in the epic scene.
