'Roseanne' Spinoff Apparently Moving Forward Without Roseanne Barr

The Roseanne cancellation caught a lot of us off guard. The show had done exceptionally well at bringing the Conners back to the small screen and made us all fall in love with them again.

However, the star of the show had been sharing some offensive opinions and the network finally decided enough was enough. They no longer wanted to be associated with her and her thoughts, so they canceled the show.

Roseanne Barr claimed to have been joking, but even if that's true, her words were unacceptable. Even her castmates were deeply concerned with her words.

Sara Gilbert, who plays her daughter on the show, called her actions "abhorrent."

"Roseanne's recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least."

And while a lot of fans of the show were disgusted by Barr's words, they were also disappointed that they weren't going to get more of the show. But now, it seems like we may be able to get the best of both worlds.

Barr is apparently in talks with the network to step down from her role as star and sign over her rights to the show so that the rest of the cast and crew can continue on with a new spinoff.

Negotiations are going on at ABC and apparently the new spinoff would revolve around Gilbert's character, Darlene, but many of the other characters would come along as well, including John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf.

Barr must wave her rights to receiving fees from the spinoff before they would consider making it. ABC would have to give her a one-time payout that would give them the rights to all her characters and the show itself.

Apparently most of the cast and crew are already on board with the new show, and Gilbert would be one of the executive producers, which makes sense because she also held that title at the original Roseanne reboot.

Even if this spinoff doesn't pan out, the three main stars, Goodman, Metcalf, and Gilbert are going to receive their paycheck for the canceled 11th season. They are each expected to make roughly $300,000 per episode that was scheduled.

While the pay check would be nice, I am sure they'd rather have the option to continue with the show and tell all the stories they had in mind and also make sure the crew and writing staff gets to keep their jobs as well.

We will find out more as time goes on, but so far it's looking more and more likely.
