'Quantum Leap' Creator Reveals His Plans To Bring The Show Back

One of the greatest shows from the 80s might be coming back and it will finally answer all the questions we have had for decades. Quantum Leap started in 1989 and ran until 1993. After five seasons it ended without Sam ever getting to leap back home.

We have all been wondering for over 20 years what Sam has been doing, but now we may finally have some answers. The series creator, Donald Bellisario, was at the Los Angeles Comic Con over the weekend where he revealed his plans for the show to make a comeback!

We've heard the rumors before, people have been talking about a Quantum Leap reboot since the early 2000s. But this time the rumors aren't just all chatter from undisclosed sources, the creator himself told us exactly what he has in store and it's a lot.

This is what Bellisario has in store for Sam...

It was back in 2010 when star of the show Scott Bakula revealed that there were talks of a feature film version of the series, but there hasn't been any news since. But this year's LA Comic Con was full of announcements.

Not only did Bellisario confirm that a script has been written for a movie, but he also revealed that it would act as a back-door pilot for a brand new series!

Bellisario said that "I write things exactly the same way. I just start writing and I let them take me wherever it’s going to take me. I’m entertained the same way the audience is. So I just put Scott [Bakula] and Dean [Stockwell] in my head, kind of rebooted them, and went from there."

Bakula was also at the event and was happy to praise the show's creator. He spoke about the last episode, saying that "it was a great episode. Last episodes are always controversial. I always say to writers, ‘If you want a challenge more than writing just an hour of television, write an hour of television that is the last hour of television that that show will ever have on; write it so that it could also come back next fall; write it so that it could possibly become a movie of the week; [and] write it so that it could still potentially be a feature film someday. And make everybody happy… If you go back and watch that episode, [Bellisario] checked off all those boxes."

So now people are wondering what this will mean for the show, but the fact that he said that they were "rebooted", it's possible that maybe Same will pass on his leaping to a new person and the show will continue on from there? It's hard to know for sure until we get to see that Quantum Leap movie, but hopefully it'll all happen soon!
