Turns Out That The Principal From 'Ferris Bueller's Day' Off Really Was A Dirt Bag In Real Life

Ferris Bueller's Day Off was one of the true classic movies to come out of the 80s. When you actually sit down and break down the plot line of the movie, you realize that Principal Rooney, played by actor Jeffrey Jones, really wasn't the villain of the movie. He was just trying to do his job and Ferris was making his life a living hell.

To be honest, even I felt bad about how his character was portrayed, that is until I found out the truth about the man behind the character.

In November 2001, Jones's home was searched by the LAPD after a complainant had come forward saying that Jones had hired him to pose for nude photos when he was only 14 years old. The search turned up a number of items related to child pornography and Jones was officially charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney in 2002.

After his arrest, Jones was released on $20,000 bail because none of the charges actually stemmed from sexual acts with a minor. As his lawyer attempted to play down the severity of the crimes, "it is all about photos and none of the allegations dealt with any touching or any improper acts with a minor." Regardless it involved child pornography and that is bad enough.

Jones managed to get off of the charges with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. He was sentenced to five years of probation, mandatory counselling and his addition to the sex-offender database.

You would think this would cause him to smarten up and make sure he kept his life inline, but not so much. He managed to breach his conditions when he moved from one Florida address to another without registering his address. The judge only added another five years of probation instead of jail time.

Spokespeople for Jones have publicly stated that they hope the public will learn to forgive Jones for his "indiscretions," but based on the fact he hasn't made an appearance in any films or television for some time now, it is likely his career in Hollywood is over. Good riddance.
