The Princess Bride is an absolute classic family movie, with something for absolutely everybody: Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles, you name it!

We all remember its cast of lovable characters very well, but have you ever wondered what happened to them afterwards? Read on to find out!

Peter Falk - The Grandfather

Falk had already had an extensive acting career before The Princess Bride, thanks to his starring role as everybody's favorite squinty-eyed detective for nearly 40 years: Columbo. He also appeared in movies like Wings of Desire and The Great Muppet Caper, and passed away at the age of 83 in 2011.

Fred Savage - The Grandson

One of the major child actors of the 80s, Fred Savage also showed up as child characters in movies like The Wizard and Little Monsters, as well as shows like The Wonder Years and Working. He still actively works in TV today, starring in shows like Generator Rex and Friends From College.

Chris Sarandon - Prince Humperdinck

An actor of stage and screen for decades now, the former Mr. Susan Sarandon has had some pretty well-known roles to his name, including Jerry Dandrige in Fright Night, Mike Norris in Child's Play, and most famously of all, the voice of Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Christopher Guest - Count Rugen

Guest is a renowned comedian and actor, and had his biggest break a few short years before The Princess Bride as part of the fictional band Spinal Tap, whose mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap is one of the funniest movies of all time. He was a regular on Saturday Night Live, and still shows up as Nigel Tufnel whenever Spinal Tap decides to reunite.

Wallace Shawn - Vizzini

With one of the most distinctive voices in Hollywood, Shawn is an actor who you definitely recognize just from hearing him. Whether it's voicing characters like Rex in Toy Story or Principal Mazur in A Goofy Movie, or appearing physically in shows like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Crossing Jordan or Gossip Girl, he always has a great presence.

Andre The Giant - Fezzik

One of the absolute legends of the World Wrestling Entertainment's glory days (IE back when it was still WWF), Andre the Giant was best-known for being, well, a literal giant. He got a few cameos and small acting roles in other things, but by far his best-known was as Fezzik. His castmates loved him, and he said he felt comfortable making the movie because nobody stared at him. He unfortunately passed away in 1993, at the age of 46.

Mandy Patinkin - Inigo Montoya

Patinkin plays the sword-wielding Spaniard we all love, but that's far from the only major moment of his career. He's had some absolutely beloved TV roles, including Dr. Jeffrey Geiger in Chicago Hope, Jason Gideon in Criminal Minds, and Saul Berenson in Homeland. He's also been married to his wife, Kathryn Grody, since 1980!

Robin Wright - Princess Buttercup

The Princess Bride herself got her big break with this movie, but that was far from the last time any of us heard from her. She's had an extensive career on both the big and small screens, appearing in acclaimed movies like Forrest Gump, Unbreakable, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Wonder Woman and Blade Runner 2049, and is a series regular on the acclaimed Netflix series House of Cards! She was also married to actor Sean Penn, but the less said about him the better.

Cary Elwes - Westley

Famously chosen for Westley due to his "Errol Flynn-quality," Elwes would go on to spoof characters like Westley in the Mel Brooks classic Robin Hood: Men In Tights. He'd also go onto more grounded stuff, like Jerry in Liar Liar (which apparently people ask him about to this day), or Dr. Lawrence Gordon in Saw. He continues to act, and is also an environmental activist.
