Peeking Behind The Scenes Of Space Jam Will Change How You Feel About This Classic 90s Movie
Space Jam is one of the greatest movies ever made. I don't think there will be anyone who disagrees with me, but it needed to be said just in case. Space Jam stars all of your favorite Looney Tunes alongside all your favorite basketball stars and the combination is truly marvelous.
You've got to hand it to the people who made this, it was pretty impressive. Given that Michael Jordan wasn't a professional actor at all and managed to do this whole movie alone, on what was essentially only green screens, is shocking. Seeing pictures from behind the scenes will probably make you appreciate Jordan's acting skills quite a bit.
I mean, how well could you act if this is what you were working it:
At least he had the benefit of knowing what Bugs and friends look like and their personalities, but that doesn't make it all that much easier.
Even when he was playing basketball he had a group of people chasing him around in green onesies so he would have an idea of the general spacing he needed.
The people had to stand on supports to make them tall enough to represent the Monstars.
How weird do you think it felt to play basketball in a weird green room against green humans?
It's so bizarre seeing the behind the scenes of a movie like this. While you of course know that the movie is green screen, Bugs Bunny is just one of those characters that feels like he just might be real. Maybe it's just me...
You can see some old footage from the filming below.
Now I want to go watch Space Jam again... Or at the very least go explore the website which has not changed since 1996.
