More Than 25 Years Since 'Home Alone' Came Out, The Inside Of The McCallister House Looks Better Than Ever

There are some movies that have iconic settings that we remember for all time. Whether it's a school, a boat, or a house, the location is usually an incredibly important factor. The movie Home Alone features one of the most memorable houses ever.

The thought of being alone in that house when we were kids was kind of insane. It was an enormous house that if it wasn't being burgled would have been a total dream to spend the week in alone.

The real house used for filming was located in Illinois in the village of Winnetka. While it's pretty normal for houses to get updates over the years, you don't normally get to see it! Pictures of the real Home Alone house surfaced online, and the house looks completely different than how we remember it.

Obviously very few of the interior scenes in the movie weren't actually shot inside the home, but the director did comment that they did create their sets to look just like the house. They actually set the interiors up in a gymnasium nearby.

The former homeowner said that there was actually a contract that allowed the production team to make huge changes to their home. . “We were told shooting would be four or five weeks. The location manager warned us that under the contract, if they needed to knock down a wall when we weren’t home, they could do it.” Luckily, they didn't have to make any changes!
