Kirstie Alley "Still Loves" John Travolta, And Admits She Almost Ran Away With Him
There have been a lot of celebrity couples over the years, but while they are always interesting, it's the couples that almost happened that really catch our attention.
One of the most famous couples that could have been in the 90s was John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. They starred in the Look Who's Talking trilogy together, but each of them have admitted that it was nearly something much more.
Alley is currently taking part in Celebrity Big Brother U.K. where she is in a house with a bunch of stars. She was telling them all about her past romances, and in that time, she revealed that she nearly dropped everything to be with Travolta.
She admitted to her housemates that while she didn't cheat on her then husband, Parker Stevenson, with a full-blown affair, she did say that she considered it on two separate occasions.
Alley and Travolta first met when filming Look Who's Talking, and apparently their chemistry was enough to make Alley temporarily wish she wasn't married.
“I almost ran off and married John. I did love him, I still love him," Alley said. "If I hadn’t been married I would’ve gone and married him and I would’ve been in an airplane because he has his own plane.”
She joked about the plane a bit more, saying, “Let me tell you girls: It doesn’t seem like it’s important if someone has a private jet, but it is. As you get older, you do not want to hang out in airports.”
However, by the time Alley was eventually divorced in 1997, Travolta had already married Kelly Preston. They do still remain good friends to this day, and still talk about each other with great love.
But that wasn't the first time Alley developed feelings for her costars. In 1985, she made a miniseries called North and South with another Hollywood heartthrob and was completely enamoured with him.
Patrick Swayze co-starred in the miniseries with Alley but she quickly developed feelings for him. The two eventually kissed. She admitted that while that was as far as it went, she admitted she had wanted more, but didn't want to cheat on her husband.
“I would’ve loved to have an affair with Patrick Swayze but we were both married so I wouldn’t have gone off [with him],” she said.
“I kissed him and I wish I could’ve had an affair but I’m a strong believer in fidelity and he was married,” she continued. “When you get on the road and you do a movie, it’s very easy to fall in love with your leading man. Very, very easy.”
Honestly, it makes sense. Her explanation is pretty reasonable. “Think about it. We shot North and South for a year. So, for a year you’re around this person and it’s just hard, I think.”
But she's talked about these feelings before, and said that her love of Travolta was more intense then anything she had felt before, and it took years to get over. She even called him "the greatest love of [her] life."
While their love never blossomed into anything more, at least Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, has been a good sport about it. Alley admitted that she would often get caught flirting with Travolta by Preston, but she was at least honest.
“She would be, like, ‘Are you flirting with my husband?’ And the answer was, ‘Yes,'” Alley said.
I feel like it's a little bit understandable that she felt things for her co-stars, given the fact that they are acting in these romantic situations for so long. But at least she never cheated on her partner.
