John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John Reunite For The 40th Anniversary Of 'Grease'
Watching Grease as a kid was basically like seeing the epitome of idyllic high school situations. The coolest guy in school falls in love with a girl who teaches him how to be a better person, while teaching her how to loosen up.
It really defined high school movies forever, and has remained a classic ever since. It's hard to believe that it has been 40 years since the movie came out, but here we are.
When Grease came out in 1978, I don't know that anyone expected it to become the mega-hit that it did.
John Travolta is still thrilled about the movie, even after all this time. Earlier this year, while at the Cannes Film Festival, the movie was honored with a special screening and he had nothing but positive things to say about it.
"This is a film that's so timeless that keeps on giving to each new generation. When people watch this, they just get happy. They want to become the characters they're watching.
They want to sing along with it, they want to dance, they want to be part of this film. When mutual enthusiasm comes together and creates an environment you can create almost anything -- and we created Grease."
But that wasn't the end of the celebrations. This time, both Olivia Newton-John and Travolta reunited to celebrate the anniversary, and I've got to say, after all these years, there is still some chemistry between the two!
Newton-John wore a pink outfit, while Travolta had on a black blazer, giving off a "Grown Up Pink Lady and T-Bird" vibe.
They were joined by their costars Didi Conn (AKA Frenchie) and Barry Pearl (AKA Doody), as well as the director of the movie, Randal Kleiser.
“We did something life-changing, making that film,” Newton-John said to People a few months ago. “[At the premiere] you got the feeling from the energy that something was happening. It was a huge response. I feel grateful to be a part of that and to have worked with him. We’ve stayed friends ever since.”
They even pulled out their old moves on the red carpet, proving time doesn't change a thing between them!
After all these years, it still always warms my heart to see these two together!
