The First Look At The "Overboard" Remake Has Convinced Us To Give The Reboot A Chance
The plot may be ridiculous, but Overboard is a gem of a movie from the 80s that we won't soon forget. I mean, even if we tried to, it would be impossible, because the fun film is getting the remake treatment.
Earlier this year, it was announced that 1987 movie, which starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, will be returning to the silver screen. The original story follows Kurt, a carpenter who takes in Hawn, a spoiled heiress who got amnesia after falling off her yacht, and convinces her that she was his wife. She even starts to help raise his kids, and of course, they eventually fall in love.
As for the remake, it will stay true to the amnesia story line, but there will be other major changes. For instance, it will be the man who forgets his past, not the woman.
Anna Faris, best known for her role in the Scary Movie franchise, and Eugenio Derbrez have signed on for the lead roles. Faris will play a working-class single mom, Kate, while Derbrez will portray Leonardo, a billionaire with amnesia. Other cast members include Eva Longoria, John Hannah, Emily Maddison, John Segarra, and Swoozie Kurtz.
Of course, amidst all the excitement we were a little apprehensive about the remake, but the first official photo from the movie has been released, and we're slowly warming up to the idea.
Are you ready to see it?
We enjoyed watching Overboard not only because of Hawn and Russell's romantic story line, but because of the goofy moments they shared with each other. It's the type of chemistry that's hard to replicate, and many fans of the original film were concerned Faris and Derbernez wouldn't do it justice.
People magazine recently got the first look at the movie, which is directed by Bob Fisher and Rob Greenberg, and it may change people's minds.
In the new photo, Faris is pictured pinching Leonardo's nose while standing in the kitchen.
Have a look:
Although the photo doesn't give away much, it does look like the film won't be shying away from the silly scenes, just like the original, and we're really happy about that.
Back in September, it was revealed that the comedy remake will be released on April 20, 2018. Filming is already under way and some of the cast members have been recently spotted on set.
If you weren't ready for the remake a few months ago, maybe this first look at the film will have you feeling more excited too.
