Disney Released The First Trailer For 'Dumbo' And We're All Ready To See An Elephant Fly
With all these Disney live-action reboots going on, sometimes it's hard to keep track of what's about to come out. We know that Mulan is still in the casting process, we know that Aladdin has been filming, but now we have been surprised by the fact that Dumbo has released their first trailer!
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like this one had completely slipped from my radar. I guess all the exciting Mulan news last week took precedent, but now that we have a better idea of what to expect from the Dumbo movie we're able to get a little bit more excited about it.
The trailer just dropped and it shows us exactly what we wanted to know: What is Dumbo going to look like?
How were they going to make a live-action version about an elephant with giant ears? I don't know if I was the only one, but I was a little bit concerned it would look cheesy and bizarre, but honestly, it looks pretty good!
The trailer shows off the beautiful costumes, the cast, and their design for Dumbo, and now have a better idea of what we should expect.
The plot of the movie is that Colin Farrell plays a war veteran named Holt Farrier who returns back to his circus roots after coming back home. He is tasked with caring for a baby elephant whose giant ears make him a laughing stock in the circus.
His children Milly and Joe end up discovering that Dumbo can fly, which causes Michael Keaton's character, V.A. Vandemere, to try to force him into the show with the trapeze artist played by Eva Green.
Danny DeVito is also in the movie, playing the circus owner until Keaton's character buys him out. It sounds like it'll be a fairly dramatic story line but that seems about right given that it's a Tim Burton movie.
The movie looks beautiful though, the costumes and the sets look absolutely outstanding. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out come March 28th, 2019 when it's released in theaters.
I feel like it's going to be a good indicator of how some of these live-action movies will be able to handle their animal based story lines. For example, we've got Lion King's live action adaptation to look forward to as well, but now that we know how they are handling animals it's a little more comforting I think.
Take a look at the trailer for yourself and see what you think.
Don't you agree that it's a beautiful looking movie? Even if Dumbo isn't your favorite story I think we can all agree that the movie looks stunning.
