Despite what you may hear, everyone has something special about them. Whether it be your pearly white smile or soothing singing voice, you have a "commodity" that plenty of other people don't.

While you may not chose to take advantage of it, celebrities certainly do. In fact, it's essentially their bread and butter.

However, sometimes tragedies happen, and they need to be prepared if something unspeakable happens. Whether it be something small from a chipped tooth to a broken leg, these stars know how critical it is to take an insurance policy out on their prized asset(s).

But how much dough are we talking about? Check out these 12 celebrities and the massive payout they've insured parts of their bodies for.

Jennifer Lopez - Bum

Insurance: Between $27 million to $300 million

When you go see one of Jennifer Lopez's concerts, you won't just be treated to her perform live, but also her incredible dancing skills, and one of the things fans will notice in all of her performances is her derriere. Since it's one of her most popular feature, she's insured it for more money than the rest of us regular folk will ever see in our lifetime.

"I was always very comfortable with who I was. Confident," Lopez told Marie Claire UK in 2010. "I've never looked at myself [my body] in a negative way."

2. Troy Polamalu - Hair

Insurance: $1 million

Even if you're not a football fan, there's a huge chance you've seen Troy Polamalu on your screen before. The former NFL player was in a slew of commercials for Head and Shoulders.

Since Polamalu's long hair was most likely the only reason Head and Shoulders hired him, it was smart thinking that the shampoo brand insured their star's luscious locks in case they became damaged or was accidentally cut off.

3. Rihanna - Legs

Insurance: $1 million

When Rihanna first became a big name in the music industry, companies did their best to get the "Umbrella" singer to become the spokeswoman for their products. In 2007 Gillette was one of the first companies to luck out, and made it a point to insure her legs.

"They named me this year’s Celebrity Legs of a Goddess, so along with the title comes an insurance for your legs of a million dollars,” Rihanna told The Guardian.

"But I think I’m just normal. I think, 'Do people really insure their legs for a million dollars?' If it was my million dollars, I’d probably walk about in pants all day long," she added.

4. Jimmy Durante - Nose

Insurance: $50,000

From the 1920s to 1970s, Jimmy Durante was a triple threat that was known for his iconic nose. He nicknamed it his "Schnozzola" and often made jokes about it.

While living with a big nose wasn't always easy for Durante, he said that it helped him become a better person.

"I was hurt so deep that I made up my mind never to hurt anybody else, no matter what. I never made jokes about anybody's big ears, their stutterin', or about them bein' off their nut," he said.

In the 40s he decided to get it insured for $50,000, which would be close to $700,000 today.

5. Heidi Klum - Legs

Insurance: $2 million

When you're an international supermodel, your legs are undoubtedly your most important asset. Heidi Klum is no exception, so when she went to book a modelling gig, she had to get them insured.

"I didn't personally have them insured, but a client of mine did," Klum told Extra in 2011. "Basically, I was in London, and I had to go to this place where they check out your legs."

"How does that work, exactly? "They would look at them and I had one scar here from when I fell on a glass, so this [left leg] isn't as pricey and this [right] one," she added.

6. Adam Lambert - Vocal Cords

Insurance: $47 million

While he might not be making any new music right now, Adam Lambert decided to insure his vocal cords in 2012 for more than he's worth (which is estimated to be about $16 million).

"That’s my bread and butter man, I got to insure this," the American Idol alum said. "J Lo insured her booty, right? Listen - this is what I’m making my money on."

7. Tom Jones - Chest Hair

Insurance: $7 million

When you hear that a singer decided to insure a part of their body, you wouldn't immediately think it would be for their chest hair. But, that's what Tom Jones did.

Even though his manager had dismissed the claims in 2008, the insurance company later revealed the rumor was true.

"Admittedly, this is one of the most obscure requests I've had – but I still came up with a wording that addressed the need," underwriter John Thomas told the NY Daily News.

8. Holly Madison - Breasts

Insurance: $1 million

Back in 2011, former Playboy playmate Holly Madison revealed bought insurance for her most prized possessions: her breasts.

“I’ve heard about people getting body parts insured and I thought, why not?, because if anything happened to my boobs, I’d be out for a few months and I’d probably be out a million dollars," Madison shared.

"I thought I’d cover my assets… I think it’s kind of funny. I think they’re getting the credit they deserve. They’re my primary money makers right now," she added.

9. Ben Turpin - Eyes

Insurance: $25,000

Although most people wouldn't like their crossed eyes, Ben Turpin had his insured in case they were ever fixed The silent film star was known for his comedic presence in the movies, and the fact his eyes never looked in the same direction played a major factor in that.

Should his eyes have become normal, his producer, Mack Sennett, would have received $25,000. Since the insurance was taken out in 1928, it would be valued at nearly $360,000 today.

10. David Beckham - Legs

Insurance: $70 million to $195 million

While you'd expect David Beckham to have insured his legs in case he couldn't play soccer anymore, that just isn't the case. It turns out in 2006 the soccer superstar actually had his legs, feet, and toes insured if he became disfigured and was unable to continue to profit off his good looks.

This is compared to fellow soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo, who had his legs insured for $144 million.

11. Julie Roberts - Teeth

Insurance: $30 million

You can't make it in Hollywood if you don't have the perfect smile, and that's something Julia Roberts knows too well.

The Mona Lisa Smile actress decided to insure her pearly whites for a hefty payout should something happen to her teeth.

"I think as long as everybody smells good and has a smile on their face, that’s a beauty regime!" Roberts told People last year.

12. Mariah Carey - Legs

Insurance: $1 billion

If you thought Gillette paid a lot to insure Rihanna's legs, then you didn't know the razor company paid 1,000 times more for Mariah Carey when she became the face of  "Legs of a Goddess" campaign in 2006. Although you might be shocked at the mind-blowing amount, her publicist said, "the sum reflects her popularity."

Then in 2016, she had her vocal cords and legs insured again, but this time for the much lower amount of $70 million.
