Bill Nye is Finally Coming Back To TV

Everyone's favorite bow-tie wearing scientist is coming to Netflix in Spring 2017 with a brand new show called "Bill Nye Saves the World" and anyone who grew up in the 90s is pumped. Bill Nye became a household name with his hit show "Bill Nye the Science Guy" that was made for young kids. The show was incredibly successful and also incedibly awesome. It lasted for 5 years and won 24 Emmys but has been kept alive in classrooms and online since it ended. It helped get kids excited about science and technology, and now that his audience is all grown up he is ready to explore the impact science is having on society.

The new Netflix series "Bill Nye Saves the World" will look at issues facing the world with a scientific slant. He is hoping to give a little insight into claims by politicians, religious leaders and others and help clarify which are valid.

Nye is definitely ready to take on this more grown-up look at science. In the announcement he gave a few hints on what to expect from his new show: "I'm excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we'll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we'll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we'll change the world a little."

The comedic element of the original show will likely remain in tact seeing as how the showrunner/executive producer is Michael Naidus who used to run The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and they also have Mike Drucker serving as Head Comedy Writer. The Head Science Writer will be the award-winning science communicator Phil Plait, so you can be sure there will be scientific facts to back up any claims they make. Spring 2017 can't come soon enough!
