With the Oscars coming up at the beginning of March, we thought it would be cool to look back at the movies that won for best picture the year you were born. For the purposes of this list we are only going to look at the movies between 1975 and 1995.

The eldest son of a well-to-do family passes away, straining the rest of the familial relationships.

Religion meets athletics. Two British athletes compete in the Olympics, one a Jew, and the other a Christian.

The title says it all. This is a biopic of the life and times of Gandhi.
1983 - Terms of Endearment
A woman is exceedingly hard-to-please as she looks for love, and her daughter isn't making it any easier.

A fictional biopic looking at the life and success of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

1995 - Braveheart
"Freedom!" William Wallace's fight for Scottish independence.
