It's Been Nearly 20 Years Since "American Pie", What Is The Cast Up To Now?
American Pie became a cultural phenomena when it hit the big screens in 1999. The actors and actresses who brought us this coming-of-age story about high school guys trying to lose their virginity before graduation is something that we were all reasonably familiar with when we were all back in high school.
The original movie spawned a number of sequels and spin-offs, most recently with American Reunion, which was pretty damn funny I might add, but what are the actors and actresses from the original doing now? Let's take a look.
1. Chris Klein - Chris "Oz" Ostreicher
Klein had some issues with substance abuse back in the mid 2000s, but he has since cleaned up his act. You will remember he reprises his role of Oz in American Reunion, but he has also done a few other projects since. From 2011-2014 he played Drew on Wilfred, he was also a part of How We Live, Damaged, and his most recent project Out Of The Burning Blue.
2. Sean William Scott - Steve Stifler
After the first American Pie movie, Scott became somewhat of a household name and had some wild success with other movies like Dude Where's My Car, Final Destination, Road Trip, Goon, Role Models, The Rundown, and even voiced Crash throughout the Ice Age animated film series. His last major project was the sequel to Goon, Goon: Last of the Enforcers. He is likely the most successful male actor (outside of Eugene Levy) to come out of the American Pie series.
3. Jason Biggs - Jim Levenstein
Even though Biggs was raised as a Roman Catholic, he has made a career on portraying primarily Jewish characters. From 2012-2014 he was actually the voice of Leonardo on the animated version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but most of you will recognize him as Piper's ex-fiance on Orange Is The New Black. He got himself in some hot water over making an inappropriate joke about the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.
4. Eugene Levy - Jim's Dad
Eugene Levy was the cornerstone of the American Pie series. Without him you would not have had half of the shenanigans from any of the movies. He even went on to star in many of the spin-offs associated with American Pie. He has appeared in Cheaper By The Dozen 2, was on the TV show Schitt's Creek and was even the voice of Charlie in the wildly successful animated movie Finding Dory.
5. Tara Reid - Vicky Lathum
Reid had some reasonable success after the first American Pie movie. She had major roles in The Big Lebowski, Josie and the Pussycats, and Van Wilder, there was a time when she was considered a Hollywood "it" girl. But then she took a tumble off her pedestal. Her most recent movie credits have been in the Sharknado series, if you can even call that acting.
6. Thomas Ian Nicholas - Kevin Myers
Nicholas had some decent success doing guest starring roles for television after American Pie. He has shown up on Party of Five, Medium, and Grey's Anatomy. He has actually gotten to portray some pretty cool characters over the past several years, including Walt Disney and Frank Sinatra Jr. He had a busy 2016 with three projects, Zeroville, Strange Ones, and Living Among Us. Of course we can't forget that he has continued to reprise his role of Kevin Myers for the American Pie series whenever he has been called on.
7. Eddie Kaye Thomas - Paul Finch
One of the favorite American Pie characters for his antics alone, he has had decent success as an actor since the first movie. He appeared in both Harold and Kumar movies, he is the voice of Barry on American Dad, and most recently he landed a starring role on the drama series Scorpion.
8. Alyson Hannigan - Michelle Flaherty
Of course Hannigan was succesful before American Pie with her starring role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But after the first movie she went on to star for nine seasons as Lily on How I Met Your Mother. She has kept pretty quiet since HIMYM ended, but we wouldn't be surprised to see her make her way back to television at some point over the next few years.
