A Roseanne Revival Is Happening And We Couldn't Be More Excited

If you grew up late 80s or early 90s, chances are you watched and loved Roseanne. Unlike a lot of sitcoms, the actors all looked like ordinary people, and the day-to-day problems they dealt with felt completely relatable, while still being hilarious. And as of yesterday, those of us who adored the show got fantastic news: the cast will be reuniting for a comeback.

ABC, who aired the original show for 9 seasons, is said to be interested in the 8 episode revival season that Roseanne Barr has pitched, but they aren't the only ones. Netflix, who've already blazed a trail with revivals of both Full House (Fuller House) and Gilmore Girls (Gilmore GIrls: A Year In The Life), are also contenders, along with other outlets. Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, and Sarah Gilbert are all said to be on board to return, and others are said to be in talks to join the cast. It'll also be interesting to see which Becky will return, Sarah Chalke's or Lecy Goranson, assuming the character returns at all.

While this is super exciting, there is one obvious problem that the revival would have to address: what happened in the season finale. If for some reason you don't already know, you might want to stop reading, though you've had 20 years to get caught up. The series finale wrapped the show up pretty effectively, with the death of Dan, Roseanne's husband and the character who made us fall in love with John Goodman. So the fact that John Goodman has signed on for the revival is both interesting, and a little confusing. Roseanne Barr has said in the past that they could say he "faked" his death, that would still be a hard plot point to work around. Hopefully there will be more information soon, but in the meantime we can always go back and enjoy the original.
