90210 Alumi Join Forces To Bring Us Back To West Beverly Hills High School, Well, Sort Of
We all remember watching the original 90210 right? Kelly, Donna and Brenda were the cool kids we were jealous of, and Dylan and Brandon were the loves of our lives. The teens were iconic in the 90s. Everyone wanted to be like them, although none of us actually wanted their drama, but it was always fun to watch.
Beverly Hills, 90210 ran from October, 1990 to May, 2000. It was definitely one of the most dramatic shows we watched as young adults. They dealt with everything from teen pregnancy to eating disorders and everything in between.
Kelly Taylor was a pretty intense character. She started out as a kind of spoiled and promiscuous teen girl, but over time she evolved into a complicated person who dealt with a lot of hardships. Jennie Garth, the actress who played Kelly, helped launch some of the spinoffs of the show, including Melrose Place and the newer reboot of 90210 when she brought Kelly Taylor to life once again.
Tori Spelling auditioned for the role of Donna Martin by using a different name than her own. Her father, Aaron Spelling, was the producer and she didn't want it to affect the decision. But Donna went through a lot in her time at West Beverly Hills High School, I suppose every character did, but luckily Donna went on to become a fashion designer like she always wanted.
Both actresses were on the show for all ten seasons, so it's pretty obvious that they would become fairly close. They have remained friends ever since, and now that friendship is once again returning to a working relationship, and guess what, they're going back to Beverly Hills...
Garth and Spelling are planning their own spinoff of the original 90210 series, and it's already in production! Despite the fact that Spelling has been in the news lately for some drama in her real life, this new show will have them once again working together in a show based loosely on their old show.
Apparently, this new show will have Garth and Spelling playing "exaggerated versions of themselves," and according to People it is already under production. Spelling shared a photo of herself outside of the CBS lot where she said, "#back2work great creative day yesterday with my #paternerincrime @jenniegarth #90210vibes #donnaandkellyforever #besties."
The two have remained close ever since their show went off the air, and now they are at the point where their kids are starting to become friends.
We don't know much about the project they are working on together, but after the reboot ended in 2013, it was only a matter of time before something new based on the successful franchise was made. Something that makes money like 90210 will probably be remade 100 times before they finally give up.
Although, we can't deny that this reality angle where they will play exaggerated versions of themselves has us intrigued. At least it'll be a new twist on the classic teen drama premise!
It'll be interesting to see what's in store as more details get released! Would you watch a show starring these two again?
