8 Movie Cameos That Had Every Pop-Punk Fan Screaming

The late 90s and early 2000s were a great time when two of life's most enjoyable pleasures came together: teen movies and pop punk. Thanks to these collaborations there are some great scenes we will want to visit again, and again.

Some of your favorite 90s music not only was featured on the soundtrack of these teen flicks, but had a role on screen during the movie.

Let's relive some of the greatest musical cameos in teen movies!

Blink-182- American Pie (1999)

Do you think you've seen American Pie so many times that you know every scene in the movie? Did you catch Blink-182 making a cameo? Don't blink too long because you may miss Tom, Mark and Travis during the webcam broadcast that was sent to the entire school.

In the first few seconds they were playing the tail end of a song before being distracted by what was going on online.

Good Charlotte - Not Another Teen Movie (2001)

After their first album and before reaching mainstream success, up-and-coming punk band Good Charlotte was looking for exposure to launch them into stardom.

As most teen movies of the early 2000's this one had a long prom scene that allowed the band to show off their stuff on stage.

This parodied teen movie draws on American Pie, to Sixteen Candles and Cruel Intentions amd gave a young Chris Evans his breakthrough role.

Sugar Ray- Scooby-Doo (2002)

While not exactly as much of a pop punk band as the others on the list, Sugar Ray still has one of the greatest movie cameos of the time. The live action Scooby-Doo movie also had a solid cast including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. Linda Cardellini and Matthew Lillard. Sugar Ray has his cameo performing on the island whose members have been possessed.

Nothing screams early 2000's like this scene.

Bowling For Soup- Crossroads (2002)

Remember in the early 2000s when we couldn't get enough Britney? In 2002, she answered all our prayers with her movie Crossroads. It was only appropriate that it feature a boy band that we all loved at the time- Bowling For Soup. The band appeared to perform "Greatest Day" in the film.

"I was in that movie for about a second and a half...and the other guys ended up getting cut from the movie!" lead singer Jaret said.

Letters To Cleo- 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Letters to Cleo were all over the teen movie soundtracks in the 90s and early 00s. They were even able to snag an important cameo in 10 Things I Hate About You. Performing these songs for teen dramas took us back to those feelings of teenage angst we felt at the time.

The band formed in 1990 in the alt-rock scene of Boston. Famously recording a cover of Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me", which would eventually find its way onto the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack.

Simple Plan- New York Minute (2004)

Do you remember all the Olsen twins movies during the 2000's? Well this one in particular hinged on a boy band that we all remember. New York Minute was an attempt to get Mary-Kate's demo tape backstage at a Simple Plan concert in New York. Not bad for being "just a kid".

And what 00's teen movie would it be without Eugene Levvy?

The Offspring- Idle Hands (1999)

Whether you're happy or cringing about revisiting this one, we can't ignore The Offspring in the late 90's. Idle Hands starring a young Seth Green and Jessica Alba was mostly critically panned, despite its cult following.

Idol Hands' relationship to pop punk at the time goes beyond the soundtrack to Tom DeLonge in a cameo to a scene with The Offspring.

Love or hate the movie, this cameo is worth revisiting.

Fall Out Boy- Sex Drive (2008)

Fall Out Boy's success wasn't limited to the 2000's since they can be found on the 2016 Ghostbusters soundtrack, Big Hero 6 and many more recent movies.

While this one may have come out in the later 2000's it still makes the list for it's teen comedy that takes us back to the high school days.

About a teen who goes on a cross country road trip to meet a girl he met online, it features Fall Out Boy play at a party. Of course this typical teen movie stared Seth Green and really takes us back.
