20 Celebs Who Lived Together Before You Even Knew Their Names
Growing up isn't easy, especially when you have a job that is a little unpredictable. Actors often don't know when or where their next check is going to come from, so it helps to have a roommate to help with the bills.
These actors may be hugely popular now, but they all started out without much notoriety or money. They needed a roommate, and it seems like a lot of them found their way to each other! Check out these celebrities who used to live together before they were famous.
Jude Law & Ewan McGregor
They moved in together after they met at an audition. The director had asked them to get to know each other at a bar and they immediately hit it off. They later would go on to create a production company together called Natural Nylon.
Kiefer Sutherland & Robert Downey Jr
They lived together for a few years when they were younger after Sutherland first moved to Los Angeles. They were in a movie together as well, it was called 1969 and while it didn't do super great, at least they each made a friend in the process!
Gene Hackman & Dustin Hoffman
The two actors shared an apartment decades ago. Hackman joked about the experience, saying that "He was the worst. We had to hose the rooms down and sweep them out."
Michael Douglas & Danny DeVito
Douglas had some really nice things to say about DeVito, "He was neat. That's not very good for his image! But he was neat, and he was in love with Rhea [Perlman, who he would later marry]."
Holly Hunter & Fraces McDormand
The two actresses were assigned as roommates while attending Yale, but they decided to continue living together when they both moved to New York after finishing school.
There are even more strange pairings, including an iconic actor and a Vice President!
Adam Sandler & Judd Apatow
These two comedians shared an apartment in The Valley and said that once a month they would go to Red Lobster together. Sandler was cast in Saturday Night Live but continued to pay rent in case he was fired from the show. Obviously he wasn't ever fired and he never moved back in.
Lauren Graham & Connie Britton
Graham said that "We lived in an empty house that we weren't supposed to be living in. We had no furniture and all we ate were Rice Krispies Treats."
Justin Timberlake & Ryan Gosling
The two actors lived together when they were really, really young. Ryan was cast in the Disney show The Mickey Mouse Club with Justin, but Gosling's mom couldn't move to Hollywood with him at the time. He moved in with his fellow co-star and his family while they filmed the show. Timberlake said "We used to do terrible things. We thought we were so cool. We stole a golf cart."
Robin Williams & Christopher Reeve
Williams and Reeve met when they were both attending Julliard School of Drama in New York and became lifelong friends.
Tommy Lee Jones & Al Gore
These two attended Harvard at the same time and shared a dorm room. The actor actually stayed in contact with the Vice President, and gave a speech in his honor at the Democratic National Convention in 2000.
