12 Cartoon Intros That Will Make You Miss The Disney Afternoon

Disney

Launched in September of 1990 and running for a full 7 years, The Disney Afternoon was Disney's block of awesome cartoons that kids would sprint home from school to watch.

Over the years, the block would go through around 12 shows, each of which was pretty awesome in its own way. Some of them were also pretty weird, but their intros still stick with us to this day!

Goof Troop

The misadventures of Goofy and his young son Max definitely found an audience; the show ran for several seasons and even spawned two movies!

DuckTales

A show so good that it's coming back this year, DuckTales was heavy on adventure and kids loved it. It was like an Indiana Jones TV show, but with Scrooge McDuck!

TaleSpin

Baloo from The Jungle Book took to the skies in this aerial adventure series that was always a total blast to watch.

Adventures of the Gummi Bears

One of Disney's biggest dips into the fantasy genre, Gummi Bears was a surprisingly mature show, full of dragons, monsters, and stories of courage.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

The two troublesome chipmunks dressed up like Indiana Jones and Magnum P.I., then went on adventures with their friends to save people. The massive cast made for some entertaining times.

Darkwing Duck

Everyone's favorite egotistical superhero had one of the catchiest intros ever. We miss DW, but it looks like he's finally coming back!

Aladdin: The Series

We couldn't get enough of Aladdin and Jasmine's adventures even after three movies, so the series kept us going from there.

Bonkers

He was a manic cat that worked as a police officer. The show didn't make much sense, but we still loved Bonkers.

Quack Pack

This "updated" sequel to DuckTales wasn't quite as good, as it tried a bit too hard to be "hip" for older kids. It was still a fun watch though!

Gargoyles

One of the best cartoons of the decade, if not all time, Gargoyles featured a story that was dark and mature, as well as a stellar cast of voice actors (which included most of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation)!

The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa

The lovable duo got their own series of adventures after the end of everyone's favorite Disney movie. Simba even made a few appearances!

The Mighty Ducks

One of the weirder cartoons in Disney's back catalog, they took a movie series about a kids hockey team and turned it into an action show about alien ducks that come to our world to fight other aliens and play hockey. I was actually kinda cool!
