10 Simpsons Halloween Specials That Will Have You Screaming... With Laughter
Ever since the show's second season in 1991, the Treehouse of Horror Halloween special on The Simpsons have been some of the show's funniest episodes. Each of them has three separate segments that parody famous spooky movies and stories, and they're always amazing. Here are 10 segments that are especially funny!
The Shinning (Treehouse of Horror V)
In this parody of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Homer takes the family to his new job as a winter lodge caretaker, but a lack of TV or beer makes him quickly lose it.
Citizen Kang (Treehouse of Horror VII)
Kang and Kodos abduct President Bill Clinton and opponent Bob Dole ahead of the 1997 election, and the results as they try to take over Earth are hilarious.
Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace (Treehouse of Horror VI)
Groundskeeper Willie is Springfield's own Freddy Krueger thanks to a PTA meeting where the parents let him burn to death while they discussed the lunch menus, and only Bart and Lisa can stop him.
The Devil and Homer Simpson (Treehouse of Horror IV)
Homer sells his soul to the Devil (who turns out to be Ned Flanders) for a donut, and the results are both horrifying and hilarious.
The segments just keep getting better...
Clown Without Pity (Treehouse of Horror III)
In this sendoff of the Child's Play series, Bart's Krusty doll comes to life and tries to kill Homer. Of course, it turns out that someone just set the doll to "evil."
The Raven (Treehouse of Horror)
While not as funny as some of the others, The Simpsons do a really solid job of making an eerie rendition of the classic Edgar Allan Poe story, thanks in no small part to the narration by James Earl Jones.
Attack of the 50-Foot Eyesores (Treehouse of Horror VI)
Giant store mascots come to life after Homer steals a part of one, and the results are hysterical.
King Homer (Treehouse of Horror III)
Homer Simpson as King Kong. Is there really anything else that needs to be said about this one?
Time and Punishment (Treehouse of Horror V)
Homer accidentally turns the toaster into a time machine, and keeps ruining the future with his antics in the past. Highlights include a dystopian future ruled by Ned Flanders, and a gigantic Bart and Lisa.
HomerĀ³ (Treehouse of Horror VI)
When Patty and Selma are coming to visit, Homer hides behind a bookcase, only to discover a portal to the mysterious THIRD DIMENSION! What follows is hilarious.
